Happy Memorial Day!

In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Beach day soon!

I'll be going to the beach on Monday for memorial day and I'm so excited! I haven't been in like, a year so It'll be great to go again. I'm excited to just chill out, read, tan, and play in the water. I'll be going with my parents so it won't be all that exciting but I'll get to relax, which is great.

Anthropologie's new line inspired by the coast is absolutely INCREDIBLE. I love the colors, the textures, and all of the flow. I just wish it weren't so expensive! It's crazy how they can get away with those extreme prices. Either way, when I become a rich college student (as if), I'll only shop at Anthro and Urban.

What are your favorite pieces from the line?

Miss Natalie's Honey Facial Scrub

I just recently came across this recipe on my fellow blogger, Natalie's, blogspot. I saw it and I thought that I had to try it because my face has been dry and itchy recently and I needed to do something about it. So I mixed the ingredients this morning and let me tell you... this stuff does wonders to my skin. I took it off after leaving it on for ten minutes and I could feel a difference in the texture of my skin instantly. It's magical. I would definitely recommend it. The only draw back is how drippy it is. It may just have been the honey I was using but I had to keep my face over a napkin for the time the scrub was on my face. I was kind of obnoxious. But the end result was definitely worth the trouble! I guess nature will always be better for my skin than any drugstore product!

I recently made these red velvet whoopie pies that are based on the sweet-treats from starbucks. These were so rich! You definitely only needed to eat one! I enjoyed them very much! Personally, I think it’s the best thing I’ve ever baked!

Ingredients:
  • 1 box of Devil’s Food Cake mix
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons red food color (or as much as you need to make them RED)
  • 1 box chocolate instant pudding/pie filling mix
  • 1 tub of Cream Cheese Icing
How to Make:
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper or lightly spray with cooking spray. (I find that the parchment works better. The pies peed right off!)

2. In a large bowl, mix all pie ingredients (so everything but the icing). Drop batter by 1/4 cupfuls 2 inches apart onto parchment-lined cookie sheets (I used a mini ice cream scooper).

3. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until set. Cool 15 minutes; remove from cookie sheets.

4. For each pie, spread icing on bottom of 1 cookie. Top with a second cookie, bottom side down.

5. Enjoy!

American Idol Live!

I got my tickets today to see American Idol Live! at the Amway Center in Orlando! I'm so excited not only to see the new arena (we just went through a major overhaul of the facility), but I'm so excited to get to see Scotty McCreery perform! He's been my favorite Idol contestant since the beginning! This week I'm pretty sure I got over 1,000 votes for him! I really hope he wins but even if he doesn't I know he'll still get a contract! I'm not a fan of Pia so I know that I can use the facilities at that time. This is my first concert since I went to see Aaron Carter back in the early 2000s, so it's been a while. I'm super pumped!

I don't have the best seats in the world but either way I'll still get to see! I'm actually not positive if this is the actual set up for the stage. It may be where it is in the diagram but it my also be moved to the center in which case it will be closer. Who knows. Hopefully the contestants will come around outside after to take pictures with their fans. I'll definitely have a poster. I can't wait until July 24!

Who was your favorite American Idol contestant this season?

It's that time of year again! It's swim season! Well, it has been for a while, especially here in Florida, but I haven't had the time or the money to a) go to the beach or b) buy a new bathing suit. But since I've recently been paid for babysitting, I think it's that time!

I got the a Victoria's Secret catalog in the mail today and what did the cover say? "Swim Sale Preview!" Oh great is that?! These three were the ones that stuck out to me the most, the first being the one I'd most likely purchase. I don't know if any of you noticed but I don't have the smallest stomach in the world...so a tankini with an underwire is absolutely perfect for me. But if I do what I'd like to do any time soon (loose some major weight) then I'd happily purchase either of the other two to show off my beautiful, new, flat, stomach. Eep! I'm so excited for summer!

So yesterday before I went babysitting I stopped at starbucks to pick up a frappuccino during their half-price promotion (it continues until the 15th, 3-5 pm!). I decided to try the Mocha Coconut Frappuccino and I decided it's the best flavor they have ever come up with. Legitimately. There is a perfect balance between the chocolate and the coconut. It's delicious, so I suggest you also try it!
Ahh, mother's day. The one day of the year that mothers can act like a bitch and get away with it. Oh I'm just kidding. But in all seriousness, mothers really don't get enought appreciation for what they do everyday.

Today my dad and I woke up around nine to get breakfast ready for my mom and to give her her present. I went out last night to get her things to help her relax: a box of tea, Something Borrowed the book, a candle, two bottles of nail polish, her gum, and her favorite candy. She thoroughly enjoyed it. After breakfast and present we went to church and then came home to eat an early dinner (although we ended up eating aroung 5, so it wasn't that early.) For dinner we had Steak and Mushrooms, Asparagus, Rice, and Caeser salad. It was super yummy!

We ended up just sitting on the couch watching Deathly Hallows again because my grandmother hadn't seen it yet and she, like my mother and myself, loves the series as well. I also finished my wall of photos! Eeee! I'm so excited! I've been meaning to do this for a while now and I finally got my lazy self to do it!

I hope everyone else had a wonderful mother's day and Happy Mother's Day to any mothers out there reading this now!
*You've gotta love my mom and I's smoochie faces. ;)

Recently I purchased some beauty products that I would like to review for you all! The Herbal Essences Body Envy Volumnizing Shampoo and Conditioner seriously do exactly what the bottle says. I have straight hair so getting volume is kind of hard for me. The first night that I tried this  out I noticed a major difference in the volume of my hair. Another plus is that this make your hair super soft and it smells amazing! It's definitely worth a try if you have hair like me!

The Maybelline 24 Hour SuperStay Concealer is literally the best concealer I've ever used. I've used benefit Boing and Erase Paste but neither one really seems to cover as well as this! I have super dark circles from a lack of sleep and this covers them up while still looking natural! And I don't know about 24 hours (because I've never had makeup on for that long), but it sure does last a long time. But you have to be careful with color choice. This color seemed close to my skin tone but it comes out lighter. But it's still worth it!

The Eos Smooth Sphere Lip Balm is literally the cutest thing I have ever seen. I legitimately apply this stuff every 10-20 minutes. It makes my lips really soft and smooth and I can definitely tell the difference in my lips! I purchased the lemon drop flavor which reminds me a lot of Burts Bees Cuticle Wax. They are almost identical in scent/flavor. It truly is a worthwhile purchase!

Happy Birthday!

So last night was the first time that I’ve had pasta in about two months. It was literally the best feeling ever. I went to Carraba’s for a birthday dinner and I knew it would be the perfect opportunity to have some, because I am still trying to not eat too many bad carbs. I ordered the Mezzaluna Ravioli and it was delicious! It what I always order but still… But I have noticed that ever since I gave up carbs for lent they haven’t sat well with me after eating them. I guess my body got used to not eating them and now it reacts badly with them. So I will continue only eating them every once in a while.

These are the lovely and beautiful birthday girls Jessica (in the black) and Alex (who has yet to get a tumblr but she’ll come around). They both turned 18 on April 27th! I have been friends with Jessica since we were in preschool and I’ve known Alex since the 6th grade but we’ve become close in the past year or two. They are probably the nicest girls you could ever meet. They’re going off to college next year (Jessica at Flagler, Alex at University of Washington) and I’m going to miss the both of them very much! I don’t know how I’ll live with out Jessica at school. She’s one of my best friends and I know that she knows that.

I hope that the two of you have a wonderful time in college and enjoy the adulthood!

Starting tomorrow, I hope to get serious about my losing weight. It’s not an option anymore. This has to happen. My weight has been really out of control since I stopped dancing. I really need to do something about this, but the right way. And soon. I can’t take it anymore.

Happy Easter!

So it’s Easter. I had to wake-up at 6:50 to get ready so we could leave the house by 8 to get to our church to set up for the easter egg hunt that was at 10. I was in charge of the 5 and under hunt. Boy was that fun to watch. After the easter egg hunt our youth group when to have a brunch in our youth house. It was delicious. My mom did most of the cooking so you know it was good. I had ham, hash browns, quiche, and a croissant.

After brunch we went over to mass. We’re home now and we’re all exhausted, in our pajamas, and doing absolutely nothing for the rest of the day. I’m glad too because I don’t think I can handle doing anything else.

Springtime!

You know it’s springtime when the magnolias on our magnolia tree start to bloom! Yay! I’m so excited! The tree is super pretty when it’s all in bloom! I love it!

What are you drinking right now? (Originally posted 4.19.11)*

Coffee with cream, cinnamon, and little sugar. I’ve topped it with whipped cream and more cinnamon and it’s literally the best thing I’ve ever had. The cinnamon really adds a little something. I’ve never had this before today but it’s definitely the way I’ll be taking my coffee from now on.

What did I do today? (Originally posted 4.10.11)*

Today was a good day. I woke up a got ready to go to mass at eleven so thatJessica and I could go to a meeting in Orlando. After mass we found out that the meeting had been cancelled (YUSSS). So we decided that we would go to lunch together. We ended up going to Panera Bread where I had Half of Asian Sesame Chicken Salad, a cup of Broccoli Cheese soup, and a wild berry smoothie. They were all delicious (of course).
After we went to Walmart to pick up some things and ended up getting my dry shampoo that I’ve been waiting to get for a while now and some mousse that I’ve been needing. I also picked up the lasted copy of Teen Vogue because I’ve noticed that this issue, at least, isn’t as avant garde. I enjoy that. I tried the new Extra Dessert Delights in Mint CHocolate CHip Ice Cream and it’s DELICIOUS. Tastes just like the real thing.
After we went to this little Indian/Southwestern Gift shop that was quite adorable. I’ll definitely have to go back when I get some cash on me. I’m home now, on tumblr, and doing homework. I hope everyone is having a good day, as well!

Deathly Hallows: Part 2 Premiere (Originally posted 4.9.11)*

A few days ago I was talking about how I decided to dress up as Hannah Abbot for the DH2 premiere. Well I’ve decided that I’m still going to do that but I’m going to make the outfit a little more fashionable; because we all know that the Hogwarts uniforms aren’t the cutest uniforms in the planet.
I’ve chosen to wear a a white oxford shirt tucked into a high-waisted, pleated, charcoal skirt with a Hufflepuff tie from the WWoHP and some black and white oxford shoes with thigh-high tights. Hopefully this will end up looking decent. If not, my friend from school has mentioned making Beauxbaton uniforms for us to wear.
I’m so excited for this premiere it’s not even funny. I want to spend the day at the WWoHP and then head to City Walk to see the movie in IMAX. It should be pretty amazing. I can’t wait!

Summer Wants 2011 (Originally posted 4.2.11)*

There are so many things that I want to purchase before I the summer starts. I have two months until I leave for france…AHHH! I need money people! I can’t just “accio” these things into my life, unfortunately.

I love the idea of having a wispy lace-y dress to wear during the day. The glitter eyeliner adds a little something to the natural makeup that I do everyday. A bib necklace over a plain white crew-neck tee is a perfect casual look for touring the cities. Nude pumps go with everything. A fringe bandeau. This one is perfect. A little pop of a navajo pattern underneath the fringe. Uhhh. Love it! Wedges. You’ve gotta love wedges. And Aviators! Who doesn’t love aviators?! I’ve been needing a perfect nude nail polish. and I think I might have found it.
So many things to buy, so little money!

Breakfast. (Originally posted 3.16.11)*

Breakfast this morning consisted of Greek yogurt with strawberries and blueberries topped with a dollop of nutella and a peppermint tea in my new Anthroplogy cup.
It was yummy. And healthy. That’s a plus.
